Heng-Jin Park started playing the piano at age 5 and made her solo debut with the Boston Pops performing the Schumann Concerto at the age of 15. She has since returned to perform with the Boston Pops as well as the New England Philharmonic, L'Orchestre Symphonique Française, and the Boston Philharmonic Orchestra.
Born in Korea and raised in the Boston area, Ms. Park studied with Leonard Shure and Russell Sherman at the New England Conservatory. While receiving her Bachelor and Master Degrees at NEC, she won a number of awards and prizes including the Tourjée Grant for graduate study and the Frank H. Beebe Grant for study abroad. She also worked with Marie-Françoise Bucquet at Conservatoire Nationale Superieur de la Musique de Paris. |

She has performed as soloist with the Boston Premier Ensemble Orchestra, Newton Symphony, Concord Symphony, Wellesley Symphony, and many other orchestras. As a recitalist, she has performed in Alice Tully Hall and Carnegie Halls in New York, the Library of Congress, Ambassador Hall in California, the Gardner Museum, and Taos, as well as concerts in Switzerland, France, Korea, and Canada. Ms. Park has also been featured in the ‘Boston Marquee’ Series as part of the Boston Celebrity Series and in the spring of 2008, she gave a solo recital in Jordan Hall of NEC.
Ms. Park is passionately dedicated to performing and teaching chamber music. Ms. Park has collaborated with such artists as the Borromeo String Quartet, the Fry Street Quartet, Martin Chalifour, Peter Stumpf, Ronald Thomas, and Andres Diaz. Ms. Park has been a guest performer for NEC’s First Monday in Jordan Hall, The Boston Chamber Music Society, Chestnut Hill Concerts, Boston Artists’ Ensemble, Music at Eden’s Edge, Boston Musica Viva, Andover Chamber Music, the Walden Chamber Players, as well as concerts with the Art of Music Chamber Players.
Ms. Park is a founding member and current pianist of The Boston Trio. The Boston Trio has been in residence at the American Academy of Arts and Sciences and currently is the ensemble-in-residence at the New England Conservatory Preparatory School, and the Killington Music Festival. With the trio, Ms. Park has performed at Ozawa Hall in Tanglewood, Carnegie Hall and Merkin Concert Hall in New York, Jordan Hall at NEC, UCLA, Harvard University’s Sanders Theatre, the Gardner Museum, Bay Chamber Concerts, Sanibel Chamber Music Festival, Longy School of Music, Rockefeller University, with the Boston Classical Orchestra in Beethoven’s Triple Concerto, Harvard Musical Association, “Classical Performances” at WGBH, Howland Chamber Music Circle in New York, Brigham Young University in Utah, and numerous other concert series in the United States, as well as Belgrade, Serbia.
Ms. Park has just been appointed as Artistic Director of the Killington Music Festival in Killington, Vermont. In past summers, she performed and taught as Artist/Faculty at the International Musical Arts Institute in Maine. For many summer she was Artist/Faculty at the Yellow Barn Music School and Festival in Putney, Vermont. Ms. Park has taught chamber music at the Tanglewood Music Center and has made multiple appearances at the Rockport Chamber Music Festival.
Committed to training the next generation of musicians, Ms. Park has given master classes at Brigham Young University, Longy School of Music, Penn State University, and the University of Kansas. She is a former faculty of the Walnut Hill School for the Performing Arts and currently serves on the faculties of M.I.T., the New England Conservatory Preparatory School, and Harvard University. |
